What does Antifogmatic mean? An alcoholic drink taken in the morning to brace oneself before going out into bad weather. I feel you there!
Today's dram is from a Victoria brewery/distillery. Moon Under Water is their brewery name and is a well loved institution. They started distilling in recent years and have been releasing their single malts in a few different forms. This is their true single malt, there’s also a cask strength expression, and even a unique line extension of different releases having been finished with things like sweet dark cherries, cacao nibs, and coffee beans. Definitely worth it to check out. Also one of their spirits that is always in my house is their Shaft Liqueur which blends together their Espresso Vodka, fresh pulled espresso from local Oughtred Coffee, sugar, almonds, cocoa nibs, and Mexican vanilla. It is one of the yummiest things ever and a perfect Holiday (or any day) afternoon pick me up with milk on ice!
I love the concept of growing with a distillery. When you learn about a new one and you get to taste along as they learn, create, and explore. Having already been brewers, and beer being the first steps in making whisky, these folks have a step up. I enjoy where they’ve begun and am really excited about where they’re going.
Tasting notes: On the nose is toffee and spices. The palate presents the stout notes from the barrels while maintaining a butter caramel profile.
